Topfield volunteers are women, men, and teens of exemplary character demonstrating a shared commitment to our Mission, Vision, and Values. Volunteers work as part of a close-knit team and they proudly serve as ambassadors for those we serve and for Topfield Equestrian Center when they leave our facility and return home.
Though horse experience is preferred, limited or no experience with horses isn't a problem, our team of seasoned equine specialists will provide all the necessary training and guidance to get you comfortable around these magnificent animals.
Volunteer Opportunities Our programs for children, teens, and adults with varying challenges and abilities (the PATH Intl. Model) are heavily dependent upon our volunteer base (one 45-minute therapeutic riding lesson can require up to 3 volunteers per horse and rider), we can't run our quality programs without the dedication of our volunteers to help us help our clients. Side Walkers and Horse Leaders: Program volunteers are directly responsible for the safety of our mounted clients. They assist the instructor by grooming and tacking before a session, side-walking or leading horses during program sessions. Program volunteers must be at least 14 years old to participate in lessons. Horse Leaders must have at least 3 years of prior horse handling experience. Side Walkers do not require any previous horse experience.
Barn Volunteers: Volunteers in the barn are vital to Topfield. These volunteers are responsible for the feeding and care of the horses. Barn Team members feed and water horses, clean stalls, and report any health or safety concerns to the Barn Manager or Barn Assistant. Barn volunteers must have at least 5 years of prior horse handling and barn help experience and be at least 14 years old.
Facilities/Maintenance Volunteers: Although still fairly new, a facility as large as ours requires extensive ongoing maintenance and repairs. When things need fixing, we depend on our skilled Facilities/Maintenance Team volunteers. These volunteers will assist with general maintenance and repairs to the facility and the grounds, including our trails. Volunteers must be 18 years old or older.
Fundraising/Marketing/Community Engagement Volunteers: Topfield Equestrian Center is entirely dependant on donations, grants, and charitable giving. Fundraising Volunteers help raise urgently needed funds so that Topfield can continue to deliver the premier services in the region. Because fundraising isn't just about soliciting funds, our Marketing and Community Engagement Volunteers help us communicate to the community why the donations are needed and how they are being used.
We also seek individuals with skills such as photography and video production, graphic design, creative cloud, public relations and social media to help Topfield Equestrian Center remained aligned with its mission.
After you've filled out our online application someone will email to thank you and get you started in volunteering!
