The staff of the Topfield Equestrian Center offers Therapeutic Riding and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) activities to adults and children facing various challenges in life. The minimum age to participate is 4 years.
Topfield is a member of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International (PATH Intl.) and ascribes to the Precautions and Contraindications as recommended by the Medical Committee of PATH Intl. All of our instructors are certified by PATH Intl. The staff also adheres to the PATH Intl.’s Professional’s Standards and Practices.
Topfield serves a wide variety of populations from several organizations in the Hudson Valley region, including:
The Keon Center: an organization dedicated to addressing the needs of adults and children with disabilities. This organization specializes in providing vocational experiences for their clients.
Hearts for Heroes: Topfield has partnered with the Heart for Heroes organization to assist military veterans with the process of re-acclimation to life back home through participation in equine assisted activities and therapies. Services for veterans are offered year-round at Topfield.
Tommie Cares: Topfield has partnered with Tommie Cares, a not-for-profit organization that builds community, possibility, compassion, and understanding through inclusive, real-life adventures for those with special needs.
Hudson Valley Hospital Center: the medical center and Topfield have collaborated in the past to develop a program to serve those dealing with the challenges of breast cancer. Topfield aims to expand the program, offering services to clients suffering from all types of cancer. The program is also open to family members, care-takers and cancer survivors.
