The staff of the Topfield Equestrian Center offers Therapeutic Riding, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP), Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), Music Therapy and Art Therapy to adults and children with disabilities. The minimum age to participate is 4 years.
TEC is a member of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International (PATH Intl.) and ascribes to the Precautions and Contraindications as recommended by the Medical Committee of PATH Intl. All of our instructors are certified by PATH Intl. The staff also adheres to the PATH Intl.’s Professional’s Standards and Practices.
The EAGALA Model is a type of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy that employs a team approach, is 100% on the ground, is solution focused and requires the team to follow the EAGALA ethical standards. Founded in 1999, EAGALA is one of the leading associations for professionals using equine therapy to address mental health and development needs in people.

The Keon Center: an organization dedicated to addressing the needs of adults and children with disabilities. This organization specializes in providing vocational experiences for their clients.
Hearts for Heroes: TEC has partnered with the Heart for Heroes organization to assist military veterans with the process of re-acclimation to life back home through participation in equine assisted activities and therapies. Services for veterans are offered year-round at TEC.
Tommie Cares: TEC has partnered with Tommie Cares, a not-for-profit organization that builds community, possibility, compassion, and understanding through inclusive, real-life adventures for those with special needs.
Hudson Valley Hospital Center: the medical center and TEC have collaborated in the past to develop a program to serve those dealing with the challenges of breast cancer. TEC has now expanded the program, offering services to clients suffering from all types of cancer. The program is also open to family members, care-takers and cancer survivors.
